Nonwoven Fabric Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average nonwoven fabric import price amounted to $2,849 per ton, which is down by -11.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,155 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($8,819 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,726 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nonwoven Fabric Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022

The average nonwoven fabric export price stood at $2,091 per ton in 2022, jumping by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,094 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($11,655 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($570 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nonwoven Fabric Imports in Sri Lanka

For the fourth consecutive year, Sri Lanka recorded growth in purchases abroad of nonwoven fabrics, which increased by 0.5% to 10K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, nonwoven fabric imports shrank to $30M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $34M, and then reduced in the following year.

Nonwoven Fabric Exports in Sri Lanka

In 2022, the amount of nonwoven fabrics exported from Sri Lanka amounted to 2.8K tons, standing approx. at 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 0.9%.

In value terms, nonwoven fabric exports skyrocketed to $5.9M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction.
