Molybdenum; Wire Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average molybdenum; wire import price amounted to $135K per ton, shrinking by -7.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 39% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $168K per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($172K per ton), while the price for China ($105K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average molybdenum; wire export price amounted to $78,980 per ton, waning by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $99,313 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($293,703 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($57,053 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of molybdenum; wires into Germany shrank slightly to 63 tons, waning by -3.9% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%.
