Molluscs Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
In September 2022, the average molluscs import price amounted to $9,921 per ton, waning by -4% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a notable increase from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, molluscs import price decreased by -5.4% against June 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $14,952 per ton. From March 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($55,681 per ton), while the price for India ($2,800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
The average molluscs export price stood at $18,839 per ton in September 2022, declining by -37.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 92% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $30,317 per ton in August 2022, and then fell rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($49,034 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($6,557 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Imports in Singapore
In 2022, approx. 8.3K tons of molluscs (scallops, mussels, cuttle fish, squid and octopus) were imported into Singapore; flattening at the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, molluscs imports rose notably to $69M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, molluscs exports surged to $13M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated notable growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.5% against 2020 indices.
