Lead Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average lead import price stood at $2,194 per ton in July 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 5.8% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,375 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Bulgaria ($2,513 per ton) and Ghana ($2,196 per ton), while the price for Libya ($1,739 per ton) and Kyrgyzstan ($2,029 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Algeria (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average lead export price amounted to $2,324 per ton, falling by -4% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 43% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,050 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,125 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($1,968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Imports in Turkey
Lead imports into Turkey soared to 198K tons in 2022, increasing by 26% on the previous year. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lead imports surged to $449M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
