Ghee Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021

In December 2021, the average ghee import price amounted to $5,973 per ton, with an increase of 3.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2021 an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,063 per ton. From September 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($6,066 per ton), while the price for New Zealand stood at $5,969 per ton.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ghee Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

In December 2021, the average ghee export price amounted to $6,269 per ton, surging by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2021 when the average export price increased by 57% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,906 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($8,869 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($5,067 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ghee Imports in Malaysia

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of ghee decreased by -0.6% to 10K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 1.2% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 10K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, ghee imports shrank to $52M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 8.8% against the previous year.

Ghee Exports in Malaysia

In 2022, the amount of ghee exported from Malaysia contracted to 3.2K tons, which is down by -5.4% compared with 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12%.

In value terms, ghee exports declined slightly to $17M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 5.4%.
