Fructose Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average fructose import price amounted to $2,339 per ton, picking up by 18% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a mild expansion from September 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last ten-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, fructose import price decreased by -8.9% against May 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 38% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,139 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($7,839 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($1,223 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022
The average fructose export price stood at $3,722 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 43% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,168 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($8,179 per ton), while the average price for exports to Samoa ($2,100 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in New Zealand
Fructose imports into New Zealand soared to 13K tons in 2022, increasing by 42% compared with the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -4.4% against 2020 indices. In value terms, fructose imports surged to $34M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -9.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $38M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
