Frozen Whole Fish Price in Belarus (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen whole fish import price stood at $1,772 per ton in March 2022, leveling off at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2021 an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,057 per ton. From November 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($2,637 per ton), while the price for Finland ($617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Whole Fish Price in Belarus (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen whole fish export price stood at $2,582 per ton in March 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2021 an increase of 40% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,479 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to March 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to +2.2% per month.
Frozen Whole Fish Imports in Belarus
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of frozen whole fish, when their volume decreased by -2.8% to 102K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 105K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, frozen whole fish imports rose notably to $205M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
