Frozen Crustaceans Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen crustaceans import price amounted to $2,735 per ton, with a decrease of -26.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,760 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,961 per ton), while the price for China ($975 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Frozen Crustaceans Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2021, the average frozen crustaceans export price amounted to $6,905 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price decreased by -9%. The export price peaked at $10,224 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Sudan.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for France amounted to +39.5% per year.
Frozen Crustaceans Imports in Uganda
In 2022, purchases abroad of frozen crustaceans decreased by -38.7% to 12 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 25 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen crustaceans imports dropped markedly to $33K in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a sharp setback. The smallest decline of -4.4% was in 2020.
