Eggplant Price in Cameroon (FOB) - 2022
The average eggplant export price stood at $1,558 per ton in 2022, surging by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 155% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,911 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,199 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($178 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+17.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Eggplant Price in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022
The average eggplant import price stood at $1,588 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -29.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 111%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,526 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($3,800 per ton), while the price for Brazil totaled $1,769 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+68.9%).
Eggplant Exports in Cameroon
In 2022, approx. 44 tons of eggplants (aubergines) were exported from Cameroon; with a decrease of -18.7% against 2021. In general, exports saw a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 54 tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
