Dry Vegetable Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average dry vegetable export price amounted to $1,852 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 28% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2,449 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,077 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Vegetable Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average dry vegetable import price stood at $1,760 per ton in September 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 50% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,718 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($5,120 per ton), while the price for Iran ($317 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Vegetable Exports in India
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of dry vegetables, when their volume decreased by -29.1% to 127K tons. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 43%.
In value terms, dry vegetable exports fell modestly to $206M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 22%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $207M, leveling off in the following year.
