Dry Vegetable Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average dry vegetable export price amounted to $3,992 per ton, growing by 7.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. The export price peaked in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($6,618 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($3,193 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Vegetable Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $3,902 per ton, rising by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 76%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Serbia ($3,992 per ton) and Poland ($3,992 per ton), while the price for the United States ($3,280 per ton) and India ($3,900 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+65.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Vegetable Exports in Egypt
In 2022, the amount of dry vegetables exported from Egypt amounted to 23K tons, surging by 14% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
