Dried Onion Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average dried onion import price amounted to $2,394 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 87% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,304 per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($3,158 per ton), while the price for India ($2,150 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dried Onion Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022

The average dried onion export price stood at $2,999 per ton in 2022, surging by 4.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($4,544 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($2,764 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dried Onion Imports in Lithuania

In 2022, dried onion imports into Lithuania surged to 413 tons, rising by 27% on 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dried onion imports surged to $969K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dried onion exports shrank to $130K in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year.
