Cow Peas Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023

In November 2023, the average cow peas import price amounted to $1,346 per ton, which is down by -38.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 87% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,766 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($13,015 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($836 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cow Peas Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cow peas export price amounted to $2,342 per ton, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,457 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,217 per ton), while the average price for exports to Macao SAR ($1,870 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cow Peas Imports in Hong Kong SAR

Cow peas imports into Hong Kong SAR soared to 1.4K tons in 2022, with an increase of 17% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cow peas imports soared to $2.4M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, cow peas exports fell notably to $240K in 2022. In general, exports saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 1.5% against the previous year.
