Coconut Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average coconut import price stood at $1,063 per ton in 2022, rising by 42% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 149%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,711 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($4,740 per ton), while the price for Kenya stood at $425 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+126.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coconut Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average coconut export price amounted to $2,951 per ton, growing by 44% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 209% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($3,663 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($640 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+53.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coconut Imports in Uganda
In 2022, overseas purchases of coconuts decreased by -85.1% to 1.2 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 7.9%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.7 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, coconut imports dropped sharply to $1.3K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic shrinkage. The smallest decline of -4.8% was in 2021.

Coconut Exports in Uganda
