Coconut Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average coconut import price stood at $1,216 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -9.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 33% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,709 per ton. From April 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($2,163 per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($582 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Coconut Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average coconut export price amounted to $2,212 per ton, which is down by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,560 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,776 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($762 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Coconut Imports in the UK
In 2022, approx. 9K tons of coconuts were imported into the UK; waning by -8% on 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 21%.
