Chewing Gum Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average chewing gum import price amounted to $7,609 per ton, declining by -1.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $7,741 per ton in May 2023, and then fell in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($12,122 per ton), while the price for France ($4,453 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average chewing gum export price stood at $9,861 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 28% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated slight growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, chewing gum export price decreased by -20.3% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 38% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $12,376 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($21,748 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($5,318 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Imports in Germany
In 2022, the amount of chewing gum imported into Germany dropped to 5.7K tons, which is down by -1.9% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 2.2% against the previous year.
In value terms, chewing gum imports shrank to $40M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $45M, and then declined in the following year.

Chewing Gum Exports in Germany
Chewing gum exports from Germany declined to 1.7K tons in 2022, reducing by -12.2% compared with the year before. In general, exports recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 0.5%.
In value terms, chewing gum exports rose modestly to $16M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17%.
