Champagne Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average champagne import price amounted to $25.9 per litre, with a decrease of -13.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, champagne import price decreased by -21.8% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $33.2 per litre in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($71.7 per litre), while the price for Italy ($11.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Champagne Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average champagne export price amounted to $26.5 per litre, waning by -9.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 29% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $31.3 per litre. From May 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($42.8 per litre), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($4.4 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+46.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Champagne Imports in Belgium
In 2022, approx. 8.8M litres of champagne were imported into Belgium; which is down by -4.8% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.2M litres, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, champagne imports reduced to $206M in 2022. Champagne Exports in Belgium
