Canned Vegetable Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023
The average canned vegetable import price stood at $2,383 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -14.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,790 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($6,921 per ton), while the price for China ($1,110 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average canned vegetable export price amounted to $2,426 per ton, rising by 9.9% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,059 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Serbia ($1,732 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1,647 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kosovo ($1,166 per ton) and Armenia ($1,466 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Imports in Slovenia
In 2022, the amount of canned vegetables imported into Slovenia stood at 21K tons, picking up by 9.7% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, canned vegetable imports rose markedly to $39M in 2022. Canned Vegetable Exports in Slovenia
In 2022, shipments abroad of canned vegetables decreased by -47% to 1.1K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 104%.
In value terms, canned vegetable exports dropped sharply to $3.6M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $4.5M, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
