Canned Vegetable Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average canned vegetable export price stood at $2,802 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -22.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,024 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Albania ($6,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($718 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average canned vegetable import price amounted to $3,001 per ton, shrinking by -8.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,279 per ton in August 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($5,579 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,325 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Exports in Serbia
In 2022, the amount of canned vegetables exported from Serbia soared to 23K tons, picking up by 19% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, canned vegetable exports amounted to $47M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 38%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
