Canned Vegetable Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average canned vegetable import price amounted to $2,970 per ton, dropping by -6.8% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,244 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,213 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($1,340 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canned Vegetable Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average canned vegetable export price amounted to $2,357 per ton, waning by -1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated perceptible growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, canned vegetable export price decreased by -29.7% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,352 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Estonia ($5,207 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($821 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canned Vegetable Imports in Lithuania

Canned vegetable imports into Lithuania was estimated at 28K tons in 2022, surging by 7.5% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, canned vegetable imports rose remarkably to $63M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Canned Vegetable Exports in Lithuania

For the fourth year in a row, Lithuania recorded growth in overseas shipments of canned vegetables, which increased by 16% to 26K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, canned vegetable exports soared to $52M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
