Camping Equipment Price in France (CIF) - 2023

The average camping equipment import price stood at $8,488 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -27.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 31% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $12,015 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($21,479 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($3,126 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Camping Equipment Price in France (FOB) - 2022

The average camping equipment export price stood at $11,687 per ton in 2022, which is down by -10.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 8.5%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $17,010 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($13,977 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($7,713 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Camping Equipment Imports in France

In 2022, purchases abroad of camping goods decreased by less than 0.1% to 45K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 45K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, camping equipment imports totaled $366M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
