In value terms, bedspread production declined to $30.7B in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 20%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $45.5B. From 2020 to 2022, global production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were China (482M units), the United States (290M units) and India (232M units), with a combined 42% share of global production. Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Romania and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 90%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 169M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bedspread imports reduced slightly to $546M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 10%. In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +6.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices By Country

The average bedspread export price stood at $5.6 per unit in 2022, reducing by -19.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 14%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $10 per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($9.6 per unit), while China ($3.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
