China Aromatic Polycarboxylic Acids, Their Anhydrides, Halides, Peroxides, Peroxyacids And Their Halogenated, Sulphonated, Nitrated Or Nitrosated Derivatives Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives price amounted to $2,332 per ton (FOB, China), reducing by -12.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 an increase of 13% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,362 per ton. From May 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,078 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($1,355 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, overseas shipments of aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives decreased by -6.1% to 12K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after two months of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 31% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 14K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives dropped remarkably to $29M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 36% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 46K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Korea (1.9K tons), Vietnam (1.8K tons) and India (1.3K tons) were the main destinations of exports of aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives from China, with a combined 40% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), Japan, Indonesia, Belgium, Malaysia, Italy, Mexico, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +16.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives exported from China were South Korea ($6M), India ($3.1M) and the United States ($2.9M), together comprising 42% of total exports. Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Belgium, Malaysia, Italy, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

Mexico, with a CAGR of +19.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
