Apple Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average apple import price amounted to $525 per ton, picking up by 8.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 65% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($964 per ton), while the price for North Macedonia ($249 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average apple export price amounted to $1,622 per ton, surging by 79% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 323% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($1,842 per ton) and Greece ($1,429 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,293 per ton) and Luxembourg ($1,323 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+31.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Imports in Bulgaria
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of apples, when their volume increased by 19% to 61K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible downturn.
In value terms, apple imports reached $15M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $16M.
