Aluminium Wire Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average aluminium wire export price amounted to $3,110 per ton, with a decrease of -5.1% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2021 when the average export price increased by 12% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,278 per ton in November 2021, and then reduced in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($6,914 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($2,917 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+30.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminium Wire Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average aluminium wire import price stood at $4,440 per ton in December 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in December 2021.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,852 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($3,365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminium Wire Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, overseas shipments of aluminium wires were finally on the rise to reach 74K tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn.
In value terms, aluminium wire exports reduced to $171M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20%.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of aluminium wires, when their volume decreased by -1.3% to 7.8K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year.
In value terms, aluminium wire imports declined to $27M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $30M, and then contracted in the following year.
