In 2022, the average aluminium wire export price amounted to $2,814 per ton, waning by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 38%. The export price peaked at $3,853 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Turkey ($3,224 per ton) and Ukraine ($3,108 per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($2,313 per ton) and Azerbaijan ($2,575 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average aluminium wire import price amounted to $4,049 per ton, reducing by -4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium wire import price increased by +57.9% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,218 per ton in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($5,212 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,663 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of aluminium wires decreased by -9.5% to 2.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +46.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 31%.

In value terms, aluminium wire exports contracted to $7.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +71.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 47%.
