Pistachio Production in Western Africa

In value terms, pistachio production shrank modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of pistachios, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, pistachio exports plummeted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Benin represented the major exporter of pistachios in Western Africa, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Togo (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), together constituting a X% share of total exports. Nigeria (X kg) took a little share of total exports.

Benin was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pistachios exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022.
