In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the major exporter of rice, comprising X% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Lebanon (X%). Israel (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Palestine (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to rice exports from Turkey stood at X%. At the same time, Lebanon (X%), Palestine (X%) and Oman (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lebanon emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the seven major importers of rice, namely Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Djibouti, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Jordan (X tons), Oman (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Libya (X tons) and Israel (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Djibouti, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
