The average carbon export price stood at $X per ton in 2023, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 when the average export price increased by X%. The export price peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, supplies from abroad of carbon (carbon blacks and other forms of carbon) decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, carbon imports dropped sharply to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main suppliers of carbon imports to Hungary, together comprising X% of total imports. Poland, Egypt, India and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of X.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
