Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wallpaper exports expanded significantly to $X in 2023. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for X% of total exports. Belgium (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Italy (X%), France (X%) and the Netherlands (X%). Poland (X tons) and Greece (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total exports. The Netherlands, France, Poland and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Among the main exporting countries, Greece, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2023, growing by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, wallpaper export price increased by X% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, supplies from abroad of wallpaper and wall coverings decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wallpaper imports expanded sharply to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

France represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at X% of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an X% share, followed by Belgium (X%), Poland (X%) and Germany (X%). The following importers - Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), Greece (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Romania (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.

Imports into France decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Greece (X%), Romania (X%), the Netherlands (X%) and Italy (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Greece emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Poland (X%), Spain (X%), Germany (X%), the Czech Republic (X%), Belgium (X%), Sweden (X%), Latvia (X%) and Lithuania (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (X p.p.), Greece (X p.p.), Italy (X p.p.), Poland (X p.p.) and Romania (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of France (X p.p.) and Lithuania (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, France ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wallpaper and wall coverings in the European Union, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with an X% share.

In France, wallpaper imports decreased by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (X% per year) and Belgium (X% per year).
