Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, alkali and rare earth metals exports dropped sharply to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), creating an X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Bahrain (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to alkali and rare earth metals exports from China stood at X%. At the same time, Bahrain (X%), South Korea (X%), Thailand (X%) and Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported alkali or alkaline-earth metals, rare-earth metals, scandium and yttrium, mercury in Asia, comprising X% of total imports.
