In September 2023, the average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms amounted to $5,080 per ton, waning by -26.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 9.2% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $6,880 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted sharply in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($7,146 per ton), while the price for China ($3,357 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $14,166 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($71,543 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($6,576 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+28.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
