In 2022, the average import price for pectic substances; pectinates and pectateses amounted to $10,087 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $17,466 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($13,948 per ton) and Denmark ($12,879 per ton), while the price for China ($9,414 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($9,749 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
