In July 2023, the average import price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $3,055 per ton, picking up by 108% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a remarkable increase. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($7,459 per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($864 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+23.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,761 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($1,435 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($536 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
