Gum Arabic Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average gum arabic export price amounted to $2,537 per ton, declining by -15.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 85%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,216 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($11,439 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($710 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average gum arabic import price amounted to $2,838 per ton, reducing by -15% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 107% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,548 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($15,181 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($611 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Sudan (+37.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
