Commercial Printing Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023

The average commercial printing export price stood at $4,730 per ton in June 2023, declining by -7.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $5,276 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Greece ($8,808 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($3,601 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing import price stood at $5,373 per ton in June 2023, dropping by -13.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, commercial printing import price increased by +97.4% against September 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 45% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $6,242 per ton in May 2023, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,428 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($1,612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Exports in Croatia

In 2022, approx. 24K tons of commercial printing (except screen and books) were exported from Croatia; growing by 3.4% on 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, commercial printing exports expanded markedly to $103M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Commercial Printing Imports in Croatia

In 2022, overseas purchases of commercial printing (except screen and books) were finally on the rise to reach 19K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease.

In value terms, commercial printing imports amounted to $78M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
