In 2016, shipments abroad of coniferous wood in the rough decreased by -13.7% to X cubic meters, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 13%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X cubic meters. From 2014 to 2016, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coniferous wood in the rough exports shrank to $X in 2016. Overall, exports showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2016, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2016; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, imports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium represented the largest importer of coniferous wood in the rough in Benelux, with the volume of imports amounting to X cubic meters, which was near 58% of total imports in 2016.
