Lead Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, exports of lead in Africa fell to X tons, reducing by X% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, lead exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a tangible expansion. Exports from Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, South Africa (X%), Senegal (X%), Zambia (X%), Tanzania (X%), Sudan (X%) and Ghana (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Africa emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Senegal increased by X, X, X, X and X percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Lead imports expanded remarkably to X tons in 2022, with an increase of X% against 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lead imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

South Africa (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. Botswana (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Algeria (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons).
